Jani Lane (born John Kennedy Oswald on February 1, 1964, died August 11, 2011) was an American rock singer and songwriter, best known as the frontman of the glam metal band Warrant.
Early Life and Career: Lane was raised in Akron, Ohio. Before Warrant, he played in bands like Plain Jane.
Warrant Success: He joined Warrant in 1984. Lane wrote or co-wrote most of Warrant's songs, including their biggest hits like "Heaven," "Down Boys," and "Cherry Pie." Cherry Pie became an anthem of the glam metal era.
Solo Career and Other Projects: Lane pursued a solo career after leaving Warrant at different times. He also appeared on various TV shows and projects.
Personal Struggles: Lane struggled with alcohol addiction throughout his life, which significantly impacted his career and personal life. This addiction led to multiple arrests and stints in rehab.
